What you can expect from us

  • We always put your child’s interests first – and we expect you to do the same.   We do not take sides.
  • All information we have about you, such as address and telephone number, will be kept  strictly confidential, and will not be shared with the other party.
  • We will do our best to answer practical queries about arrangements at the Contact Centre  (or pass your query to someone who can answer them).
    • We cannot give legal advice.
    • We cannot mediate between you.
    • We can refer you to appropriate services.
  • We will provide details of the attendance times recorded for your contacts, but we do not  make any other reports, nor are we qualified to offer any opinions regarding your contact.   We will do our best to make your time, and your child’s time, at the Contact Centre as  pleasant as possible. Please ask us if you have any concerns or if there is anything you need,  and we will do what we can to help. We welcome suggestions as to ways we could improve  things.
  • We do not charge for attendance at contact sessions. However, if you wish you may make a  donation towards our running costs. The suggested donation is £20 per family at the first  session.
  • The Contact Centre is independent and has the right to decide whether or not to offer a  contact place, and to terminate such an offer if you do not follow our Rules or abide by this  Code of Conduct.

A folder containing all our Policies is available on request at each session.

What we expect from you

  • You (or the other parent) are responsible for your child/children at all times, including ensuring that their behaviour is appropriate.
  • We expect you to act with courtesy and respect to our volunteers and to all other users of the Contact Centre at all times.
  • Smoking (or vaping) is not permitted anywhere in the building or outside in the car park.  You must not be under the influence of alcohol or drugs. If we have any suspicions, you will not be permitted entry into the Centre.
  • Small gifts as presents (up to about £50 per child) can be brought into the Centre by a resident parent. More expensive gifts are discouraged, but if they are to be given, both parents must agree to give and receive before the contact session.
  • The Contact Centre is not the place for your arguments, abusive language and offensive remarks, whether to other parents, children or volunteers – and especially not in front of the
children. Failure to cooperate in ensuring a quiet and unthreatening atmosphere will result in contact being discontinued.
  • Contact sessions are held at Woking United Reformed Church. The Centre is open on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays (but not the 5th Saturday) in the month from 2 pm to 4 pm. We expect you to attend on the given dates and to arrive on time. If you are unable to attend, you must notify the other parent and us (if at all possible).
  • We expect you to use the correct entrance when you arrive, where you will be signed in. o Resident parents arriving with children should use the main entrance.
    • Non-resident parents should use the entrance at the far end of the car park.  When the session finishes at 4 pm, resident parents leave first with their children using the main entrance. Non-resident parents are asked to wait in the hall for about 10 minutes. This allows resident parents and their children time to leave the building and the car park area. Non-resident parents are asked to leave by the door at the far end of the car park. The departure times are recorded.
  • We expect you to read the various notices displayed around the Centre and to abide by them.
  • You must ensure that we always have your correct address and telephone number, and tell us if these change. We need to be able to contact you in any emergency.
  • We do not prohibit you from taking photographs of your child/children (unless previously agreed restrictions have been requested), but you must ensure that no other children are included in the photograph. We ask that you do not use your mobile phone for any other purpose while in the Centre.
